Scuba diving in Curacao

Over a week in a small island scuba diving every day in the Caribbean Sea was a dream. Getting to see life 60-feet underwater for an hour every day is an immersion into a different world. I able to see the most beautiful coral reef fish, small squids, moray eels, sea turtles, and much more. However, it takes a lot of preparation and dedication. First off, getting certified is the most difficult part. Throughout the process, the instructors give the worst situations possible so that their students are prepared in a time of danger. I had to perform multiple tests underwater such as assembling my gear, draining a water-filled mask, and having my air turned off. Getting through the hardest parts of certification, however, makes diving for fun seam like a breeze. Everyday in Curacao we would pick a different beach to dive from, and it would take us a long time to set up our gear and make sure everything is working well. When you are underwater for an hour with only one source of air, it is important to stay calm and aware of yourself and others. The worst thing for you to do while scuba diving is be nervous, anxious, or worry. As long as you stay with a partner, check their air periodically to make sure they are okay, and stay calm, diving is one of the most relaxing and beautiful activities.
